FULL DISCRIPTION OF INSERVICE TRAINING CONTENTS
Residential course in Tartu Estonia.
The course starts on November 14th, 2016 at 9:00 am and ends on November 18th, 2016 at 4:30 pm.

PREPARATION
Delegates will be asked to write a short case study prior to the course. They will get access to the SharePoint on which there will be some pre-course reading materials available.

 

OBJECTIVES
Participants:

  • Will develop an understanding of the guiding principles of Linpilcare:

    • Practitioner research;

    • Professional learning communities;

    • Easy access to relevant results of academic research.

  • Understand the relationship between their practice, the results of practitioner inquiry and relevant results of academic research;

  • Are aware that practitioner inquiry is a professional learning strategy;

  • Can apply relevant methods of collecting, analyzing, interpreting & sharing data during their practitioner inquiry;

  • Can use the outcomes of practitioner inquiry to take appropriate actions to enhance their practice;

  • Are aware of the use of data generated by regional, national or international surveys;

  • Recognize the importance of major outcomes of academic educational research relevant for their practice;

  • Know the principles of effective professional learning communities;

  • Are aware how they can organize effective professional learning communities;

  • Can use tools developed by linpilcare to realize practitioner research, professional learning communities & easy access to relevant results of academic research;

  • Will build up an (refined) frame of thinking on evidence informed teaching and learning, based on the guiding principles of Linpilcare;

  • Are aware of the role of school culture to move towards an evidence informed stance in their practice;

  • Can plan and take steps to move towards such a culture of learning & teaching in their school.

 

METHODOLOGY
The guiding methodological principle of the course will be ‘practice what you preach’: the tutor team will apply the principles underlying effective IST to this particular course. Among other things this means that the methodology of the course is based on the constructivist learning principle, which allows for active and interactive participation, as a result of which participants will be able to integrate new knowledge, understanding and skills into their existing repertoire.

 

FOLLOW-UP
e-learning environment (SharePoint) is at the disposal of participants. This will enable participants to keep in touch with tutors and with other participants after the course. It will also enable them to download relevant documents that will be posted on the e-learning environment and be informed of future initiatives and developments in the area.

In order to offer your organization high quality IST courses for your staff, University of Tartu organizes in collaboration with vzw Nascholing in het Katholiek Onderwijs the IST and gives information to your organization on a.o.:

Practical things:
• Location, catering, day and hour of starting and ending, number of tutors;
• The programme of the IST day by day and the number of contact hours;
• The preparation of the participants to participate on the IST;
• The syllabus;
• The follow up of the IST via SharePoint;
• The price of the IST, (tuition fee and accommodation.)

Learning arrangements:
• The learning needs of the participant(s);
• The operational objectives of the IST;
• The way of learning during the IST;
• The methodology of the IST;
• Sharing documents and learning experiences by using SharePoint.

CANCELLATION TERMS
• any cancellation made in the 4th until the 2nd week before the start of the course will result in the payment of 50% of the invoice by the participant.
• any cancellation made one week before the start of the course will result in the payment of 70% of the invoice by the participant.
• cancellation at the beginning of the course (no show) will result in the payment of the total amount of the invoice by the participant.
